Bayview Dental

Want your teeth fixed, but scared? Sedation is the solution.

We cater to patients who have anxiety towards receiving dental care. Through communication, we identify issues early on and will fully address them before any treatment is proposed. We strive to provide the best dental care possible, and to also encourage you to become proactively interested in your teeth. We will not only move you past the fear stage, but will get you to actively want to improve your oral health. We want every patient to be proud of their teeth that they can't stop smiling.

Together we can overcome problems that had prevented you from receiving proper dental care.

Still uneasy? No problem. We will administer sedatives, either IV or oral, and titrate to your body type. You will be drowsy, anxiety-free, and eventually fall asleep.

Sedation dentistry is a great way to complete all your dental treatment with little or no discomfort. If you have always had trouble with dental anxiety, or are pressed for time, sedation dentistry is the answer for you. It is a safe and effective way of completely removing the fear and anxiety associated with any part of dentistry.

Frequently Asked Questions about Sedation Dentistry

How does sedation dentistry work?
IV drip.

IV drip

Depending on your needs, either oral or IV sedatives will be administered. They are from the class of drugs that induces sleep. With the IV route of administration the level of sedation is much easily controlled. You will “sleep” through the procedure and wake up with the smile you have always dreamed of.

Will it hurt?

Other than the little “prick” to access the IV, most patients feel no discomfort whatsoever during their treatment and feel refreshed afterwards. Local numbing is still administered even if sedation is utilized.

Will I remember anything?

The sedatives have amnesic effects. It is unlikely you will remember anything at all.

Is it safe?

Before starting any type of sedation, your health and medical history will be thoroughly reviewed. If you are unsuitable for sedation, we will recommend a safe alternative for you.

I have difficulty feeling numb at the dentist, will sedation help?

Yes. By inducing relaxation, anesthetics usually work better and quicker; and knowing that you will be sedated throughout the procedure will remove anxiety all together.

I gag easily and any part of dental treatment makes it worse. Will sedation help?

This is another advantage of sedation dentistry. Gag reflex is greatly reduced when you are sedated, making it easier for dentistry to happen.
